Surely the presence of the Lord is in this place;
I can feel God’s mighty power and God’s grace.

I see glory on each face;
Surely the presence of the Lord is in this place.
*CALL TO WORSHIP
Minister: Thus, the heavens and the earth were finished and all their multitude.
People: And on the seventh day, the Lord finished the work that He had done.
Minister: And God rested on the seventh day from all the work that He had done.
All: So God blessed the seventh day and hallowed it, because on that day God rested from all the work that He had done in creation. Let us open our hearts and lift our voices to the Lord! Thanks be to God. Thanks be to God! Amen.
*We invite everyone who is able, to please stand.
*OPENING HYMN “Amazing Grace, How Sweet the Sound” #547
*PRAYER OF INVOCATION
Creator of our world, Savior of our souls, Giver of Eternal Life, we come to You this morning to celebrate the ways we spread Your love this past week and to acknowledge the times we did not do as You would have us do. We come to You this morning seeking balm for your wounds and confirmation of our hopes and faith. Let us now pray to You in the prayer that Jesus gave us…..
*LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
*HALLELUJA
CHILDREN’S MESSAGE “How big was that fish?”
*HYMN “When the Saints Go Marching In”
Oh, when the saints go marching in,
Oh, when the saints go marching in,
Oh Lord, I want to be in that number,
When the saints go marching in.
And when the revelation comes,
Oh, when the revelation comes,
Oh, Lord, I want to be in that number,
When the revelation comes.
And when they crown Him King of Kings,
Oh, when they crown Him King of Kings,
Oh, Lord, I want to be in that number,
When they crown Him King of Kings.
Yes, when the saints go marching in,
Yes, when the saints go marching in,
Oh Lord, I want to be in that number,
When the saints go marching in.

This morning’s flowers are offered by Barbara Turgeon, in honor of Father’s Day. “Thanks to all the fathers for the laughter and the good times we have shared and thanks for always listening and trying to be fair.”
If you are visiting with us today, please take a moment to fill out a “Welcome Card” and place it in the offering plate at the time of the collection. Also make yourself known to the newcomer greeters so that they can tell you more about Second Church. Today’s newcomer greeters are George Hildebrand and Martha Law. Today’s ushers are Kim Holliday and Andy Teichner. Pam Moline is our Flutist.
Our Hospitality Committee invites you to join us for great food and fellowship in the Parish Hall after Worship. Our Parish Hall is found by exiting the sanctuary through the door to the left of the pulpit. This morning our hostesses are The Ladies Charitable Society.
The language of our worship service is intended to be inclusive to all people. However, we realize that this goal is not always possible. Therefore, we invite you to use wording that is most meaningful to you.
READ THE LARGE PRINT! We have large print hymnals and bulletins for your use. If you would like to use one, please ask the ushers.
HEARING ASSISTED DEVICES: are available for the hearing impaired. Please see one of the ushers to determine which of the two devices offered are applicable to your needs. Please return to the ushers at the end of service.
CHAIR LIFT: access to the Sanctuary is available in the lower vestibule.
PARENTS: There are children’s bulletins and crayons available in the Narthex for our little ones to use during worship. Please ask the ushers.
NURSERY: We welcome your children to our staffed nursery which is located below the sanctuary.
From the Sanctuary: Use the back stairway in the Narthex to go directly to the Nursery below.
From the parking lot: Enter the church through side door to the lobby. Turn left towards the Village School classrooms. The nursery is the last room on the left.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
CHRISTIAN EDUCATION
Helping our children grow helps us to grow too.
Don't be afraid -- our kids are fun and loving – every hour given is a gift to someone else.
The Christian Education committee has been in creative mode this spring. We have found some new and exciting curriculum for our Pre-k to 2nd grades and for High School. Also we are looking to form teaching teams which will provide support to each other and coverage for our children without over burdening us all. Remember – Many hands make light work.
What ages do you enjoy working with?
Nursery: Join the volunteer team to assist the nursery coordinator. Advantage: you can listen to the worship service while enjoying the miracles of babies.
Children’s Church: Nancy Taylor is our wonderful story teller. On those 3 day weekends when many families travel to and fro, we do not offer Sunday school however, we do offer Children’s Church – a Biblical Story Telling for our younger children. Nancy is in need of assistants and apprentices. This is a fun, educational and important program which we would like to see grow. Advantage: very small time commitment.
Pre K – 2nd grades: The new curriculum is: www.iamrocksolid.com Please consider assisting with this wonderful group of children and adults. Revisit some favorite Bible stories and scriptures, work on puzzles, listen to music, coloring. Advantages: being around these glowing faces and remember “Kids say the darndest things.”
Work Shop Rotations: These classes teach many of the important stories and themes in the Bible in a way that can be both understood and experienced through activities such as cooking, arts & crafts, media, games and skits. Advantage: You receive a boost of energy to last the week.
Middle School: 7th and 8th grades use a curriculum called Seasons of the Spirit. It is used in connection with a study of global issues in the Christian world using stories from Heifer International Inc. and mission activities. Advantages: Teachers learn things too and laughter.
High School: The new curriculum is written by a Christian Theologian. http://www.christianbook.com/christianity-religions-wrestling-questions-people-curriculum/adam-hamilton/9780687497713/pd/49771X While remaining true to our own faith, we explore the common features and differences of these religions to gain a better understanding of Christianity as well as acceptance and tolerance of others in an increasingly interfaith society. Advantages: Give and Receive empowerment.
